Q1: What is the Travel Now, Pay Later (TNPL) service?

TNPL is a partnership between Sycamore and Travelstart that allows travellers to book flights through Travelstart and pay in installments via Sycamore’s financing option.

The service is available to salary earners and business owners who meet the eligibility criteria.

 TNPL can be used to book local and international flights via Travelstart. Currently, we are focusing on Lagos, Nigeria to Nairobi, Kenya for the Africa Tech Summit, but other destinations will be available throughout the year

No. The loan application and booking must be in the name of the applicant, as it is tied to their financial records.

A: Follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the TNPL interest form: https://bit.ly/ATS25
  2. Submit required documents (bank statements, ID, utility bill, etc.).
  3. Wait for approval from Sycamore (processing takes 24-48 hours).
  4. Once approved, Travelstart will book your flight, and you will receive a confirmation.

A: The required documents depend on your employment status:

  • Salary earners:
    • Six (6) months salary bank statement.
    • Work ID card.
    • Valid ID card.
    • Recent utility bill.
    • BVN.
    • Mode of repayment (Mono/Remita or Cheques/Paystack).
    • Rate: 6% flat rate monthly.
    • Insurance fee: 1% flat rate of the total loan amount charged as a one-off deduction.
    • Tenor: Up to 12 months
  • Business Owners:
    • Six (6) months business bank account statements.
    • CAC document.
    • Valid ID card.
    • Recent utility bill.
    • Collateral: Car and original documents.
    • BVN.
    • Model of repayment (Mono/Remita and Cheques/Paystack).
    • Rate: Minimum of 6% flat per month.
    • Tenor: Up to 12 months
    • Insurance fee: 1% flat rate of the total loan amount charged as a one-off deduction.

A: Loan approval takes within 24 hours, provided all documents are submitted correctly.

A: Yes, applicants must be between 21 and 55 years old.

A: The amount depends on the flight cost and creditworthiness of the applicant. Sycamore will assess and approve an amount based on income and repayment capacity.

A: Repayments can be made via:

  • Direct debit (Mono/Remita/Paystack)
  • Post-dated cheques

A: The repayment tenure is up to 12 months.

  • Interest Rate: 6% flat per month.
  • Insurance Fee: 1% flat on the total loan amount (one-time charge).

A: Yes, you can make an early repayment without penalties.

A: Late payments may attract penalties, and consistent defaults can affect your credit score and eligibility for future loans.

A: Once your loan is approved and processed, Travelstart will issue your ticket via email and provide booking details.

A: Changes depend on airline policies. You may need to cover additional costs if there are fare differences or change fees.

A: Refund policies depend on the airline’s terms. However, loan repayment obligations remain unchanged even if you cancel your trip.

A: If your visa application is denied, you are still responsible for loan repayment. Refunds depend on airline policies, and any amount refunded will be applied toward your loan balance.

A: No, TNPL currently only covers flight bookings via Travelstart.

A: Yes, TNPL is available throughout 2025 and will be extended to cover peak travel seasons, including summer, holidays, and other major events.
